Anyone else tuned into the First Lady’s speech via the interwebs?
Michelle Obama's heartfelt speech was very pleasant. I found it both relative and informal as how all speeches are informal. She definitely "wowed" the crowd with her references to her childhood and about her parents struggles, which can and most likely did relate to the American people. While tuning into a part in her speech she had referred to one of the first accomplishments Barack Obama made, following his presidency, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. What is it? Click Here and find out!
She stated in yesterdays event, "to help women get equal pay for equal work". Who knew that this act would benefit the lives of women throughout America. On the Southern California Public Radio's website an article states that, "On average women make $0.77 to every dollar a man makes." And the act itself as of January 29, 2009, has been evening out the average pay and as Michelle Obama stated, "help women get equal pay for equal work". I believe in the near future, the impact that this act has made will definitely influence future acts toward women rights.
