So Arizona has set a law that will be an action by Aug 2 , 2012 which states that an abortion can not take place 20 weeks after the last menstrual period. This deadline for an abortion is many weeks ahead of the Supreme Court's decision.
We all know the case of Roe v. Wade , and the law that was made because of it. Just to refresh your memory , the law states that a women can not have an abortion after about 24 weeks of pregnancy. The only way the mother could have an abortion after that deadline is if medical problems occurred.
With this new law that Arizona is putting an effect , the mother of the child would have to make quick decisions on whether or not they want to keep their unborn child. Is right to rush such a life changing action like that? Or should they have more time to consult family, friends exct?
Also stated in the article Dr. Paul A. Isaacson shared that you can not detect fetus problems before 20 weeks. So, basically a mother can be carrying a child with various problems either dealing with a mental state , physical , or even health and wouldn't know it until the deadline for abortion was up in Arizona. Now say the mother doesn't want a child with any dis-functions , and now has to carry a unwanted child full term. Is this right to the mother ? Or should she be able to set up an abortion even after the deadline was up?
Now , my opinion. I believe that this law is still wrong. If its 10 weeks in pregnancy or 30 weeks , i still don't believe abortions should be done. I don't agree with the fact of murdering an innocent being. I don't think that pushing the deadline up on abortions will benefit the people or make things worst. I think it will just be another rule that has been assigned to the people.
My question to you all is this : should the abortion law in Arizona be changed to the one we have? Is this law benefiting this state ?
This nation was founded on the belief that all people have an unalienable right given to them by their "creator" (whoever/whatever that might be) to life, among other things. That means that every person has the right to live on this earth. Every person has the right to see their first sight on this earth. Every person has the right to take their first breath on this earth. Every person has the right to hear their first sound on this earth. Need I go on? That is the basic fact this nation is founded upon. What we need to do is have an amendment to the Constitution that specifically protects human life, and that right to be here on this earth. There is no "right" to kill an innocent unborn child.
ReplyDeleteyou 100 percent right . i don't see how we the people have a right to kill someone who is innocent and had no say in entering this world .
DeleteI absolutely agree with you and Raymond. Why does such law exist anyways? Like you said whether it's 10 weeks or 30weeks in a pregnancy, abortion shouldn't exist. Moving a "deadline," isn't going to benefit anyone either.
ReplyDeleteEverything that's meant to be living should have the chance to see and experience life. There's laws putting people behind bars and on death row because it's wrong to sit here and kill each other, the same should go for an unborn child. If a child is born with disabilities, it's not like a toy. You can get rid of a toy because it has defects. An unborn child is another life and it's selfish of a mother or anyone to decide to abort her pregnancy because the child has dis-functions. Have the baby and then give it up for adoption, at least it gets to live.
And Raymond is absolutely correct, we should have an amendment in the Constitution that protects human life, especially from abortion.
Well classmates :) I disagree completly. With those unalienable rights stated ( life , liberty , and the pursuit of happiness) I feel that every woman has the right to choose to be happy. A female has to carry a child for 9 months within those months she is put on a number of medications, many doctors visits , and a bunch of other things that COST MONEY. A lot of people do not have this money to spend, as we are currently in a hard spot with the economy. I am a christan , yes, but I just can't support the forcing of someones position to that of relgious beliefs when our country has a seperation of church and state. I don't mean to sound extremley inconsiderate , but did anyone think about the mother in this situation ? She could have numerous reasons as to why she doesn't want to have this child and also no family support to help her out. So she's supposed to bow herself down to what others feel is the right thing to do ?
ReplyDeleteNo , I'm sorry, just can't support that.
I'm just saying ,and we could have day long debates about abortion and the right of it and whatnot, if an abortion is not done by a doctor, then you know what people will do what they once did and sometimes still do.
What about the fact of a female abusing drugs or being in an abusive situation at home or somewhere else? Should she be allowed or have to bring something into a world where she knows its going to get hurt ?
I personally don't think so.
So therefore, we should just leave what has already been set. I don't like many things in this country and I wish they would do away with some laws and regualtions, but although I don't like it I tolerate it being that someone else might support it.
To answer Grabriska's question I think Arizona has the right to do as they please, the law benefits the states officals and churches possibly, but they don't really help the INVOLVED PARTY : THE FEMALE or the child for that matter. They should change it to how the federal government already has it. So in fact if the baby is healthy and well she would have ample time to know and possibly make a decision based on that.
So its ok to just deny the unborn their right to life? Its ok to allow women the "choice" to murder unborn babies because it would make them happy. If killing you would make me happy that would be ok then wouldn't it? Because I have the right to be happy right?
ReplyDeleteAnd you know what a simple solution would be? How bout just NOT GETTING PREGNANT??? Are you the one thats all about birth control birth control birth control. How bout you just control it?
And I'm pretty sure my views are not based on religion, you know that. My views are based on what this country stands for. And that, among others, is the unalienable right to life.
And to answer your question. No I did not think about the mother. Not at all. Because she has nothing to do with this conversation. What this conversation is about is an unborn life and his unalienable right to live on this earth. That is what this is about. So don't talk about the mother because honestly, I don't care. Unless she was raped, it was from incest or her life is in danger, I really could not care less about the mother because she does not matter in this conversation.
I honestly and whole heartedly believe that abortion should NOT EXIST! If you don't want to have the child, give it up for adoption, murdering it is wrong. As a human being, the child has the right, as stated by Raymond, to live on this earth, etc etc. I fully understand if the mother was raped and doesn't want to carry out 9 months of a painful reminder. That is understandable. Although, the child shouldn't have to suffer for their Father's wrong doings. The mother should try to be able to understand that, seriously reconsider, and let the child live. Also, if the child has a defect abortion is debateable. But still, who is to say the child wants to die? They may want to try and live their life to the fullest of their ability! I know that many women want their right to choose to do whatever they please with their body, but in this case, this decision doesnt just affect them, it affects another life, a baby! I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that a person isn't considered an actual human being until they take their first breath outside the womb. Personally, I don't see how that is fair. The child is moving, living, etc inside the womb, so why aren't they a human in the eyes of the law?! It's quite unbelievable if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteKaylee, the definition of the beginning of life is also a very heated topic. Personally, as a pro-lifer, I believe life begins at conception. That is why I believe we need a life at conception amendment to the Constitution. To protect all human life.
ReplyDeleteExactly Raymond. That is a huge controversy and it needs to be added to the Constitution. I also believe that life begins at conception and this topic needs to be talked about more and taken more seriously than it is now. Every human life form needs to be protected no matter what!
ReplyDeleteI mean maybe I'm looking at this situation as a girl who lives in a place where getting pregnant will destroy you that child and your families lives. Whether you feel that is the mothers choice or not SHE ONLY HAS TO CARRY IT FOR 9 MONTHS. HER not YOU not ME not HER BOYFRIEND HUSBAND WHATEVER. her ..
ReplyDeleteIt will always be the female not anyone elses decision.
Now that I think about it you don't have the religious bias most poeple have, but hte fact is people need to get religion out of the picture because it just doesn't work when we're talking politics.
No, I'm not birth control, birth control, the only way to make sure you don't have sex is to never do it. But the cold hard truth is people are going to have sex, people are going to make decisions they shouldn't and not protect themselves and mistakes come about. If you catch it in time, there is a morning after pill. Are we going to get rid of that too? ( honest question)
Now I'm thinking about each child and mother in a different light. I'm thinking about them in the ," if the mother doesn't make a lot of money or have another source of income she's going to need GOVERNMENT SUPPORT"
Get rid of abortion fully, and people will find other ways. Period.
Women will need WIC,Section 8, Medicare, or whatever other support they can get from the government. You (us) will be paying for these women and these children.
Enjoy.
