I happened to read this article and it sparked a very quick thought in my mind , and brought attention to a very large issue. Obama isn't fully black, he is mixed, his mother was white. Technically speaking he isn't a first BLACK president, to say that he is would mean that he is fully African-American. That statement right there really made me think, and then as I went down to read the rest of the article, I saw this:
He is being purposely, purposely thwarted by the Republican Party, who started out at the beginning of his tenure by saying, 'We are going to do whatever is necessary to make sure that he only has one term,'" Freeman said. "That means they will not cooperate with him on anything. So to say he's ineffective is a misappropriation of the facts."
-Morgan Freeman
He's completely and totally right, could the reason for the so-called "ineffectiveness" just merely be the partisan divide at its worse, and maybe only worsened by the fact that Obama is not white (fully) ?
So I'd like to know do you think that Obama has been ineffective up to now , or just merely the president caught between a rock and a bunch of GOP's ?
I believe that Obama has been ineffective up until now. Every time a president is elected, the other party always says they will do what it takes to get their party elected next term, so that statement doesn't mean anything and is not a crutch to be used. Also, when Obama got elected, he had the majority of the House and the Senate, so he could virtually pass whatever he wanted as long as it was reasonable, so the GOP really couldn't be in his way. Next, blocking a bill isn't destructive it's the right thing to do. You just don't block it to be spiteful. Sure, Obama has done some good for this country, many presidents have, but personally, I feel like Romney could be better.
ReplyDeleteIf obama was truly as ineffective as people hype him up to be then the country would be in a worse position then what he inherited as president. Bush left this country in SHAMBLES, we were in a recession. During the Great depression it took the country 10 years to come back.
ReplyDeleteThe GOP blocks the Dems, the Dems block the GOP, they destroy each other and us in the mean time. It isn't the right thing to do whatsoever. Most people in very high office such as the office of president tend to forget that their constituent pool is vast and very different then what they are used to. Romney does not understand that and he won't. He may be the better candidate for the Americans who make $300,000 net income, but sadly that's not my or a lot of other peoples America.
They VOWED to destroy obama VOWED. But this mess is bigger than JUST obama or JUST romney. It's ALL of them.
As the president said earlier today, their is enough blame to go around.
Well, I kind of have a mixed bag of feelings about Obama and his effectiveness. My initial though was that Obama is a horrible president because he couldn't fulfill his promises that he earlier on made. I thought he was just like George Bush (Who I didn't like at all). However, I realized something: the President is not as powerful as you might think. Congress plays a big role in how the country is run. In fact, the President is not that powerful. So we can't really blame George Bush or Obama that much, because there is a very limited spectrum of things that they can actually do. Believe me, that's the way it is. However, Obama made so many promises earlier on, and left many people disappointed when he failed to fulfill them. That alone is a very bad thing, and I think all Presidents (including Obama) should stop talking so much (Shut up) and make a difference in the country, a positive one.
