Let's just talk here. I don't have an article for this one, I just want to do a little venting. Paul Ryan was a terrible choice for Romney as his running mate. Before today, this election was a referendum on the terrible job Obama has done with almost everything as President. But now, it's no longer that way, now it's a choice. And that's bad for Romney. The thing Paul Ryan is most known for round Washington is the thing that bears his name the infamous/famous (depending on your ideology) "Ryan budget". This budget, according to Democrats will destroy Medicare, Social Security, etc as we know it. That alone changes this election completely. That actually gives something for Obama & the Democrats to attack instead of petty nonsense like Romney causes wife cancer. The other reason why this is a bad pick is that traditionally the running mate has been used as the attack dog. The running mate is the one that is supposed to be relentless on getting after everything that's wrong with the opponent. Paul Ryan is not that person. He simply does not do that. He does not like attacking his opponents, especially in the way the running mate traditionally does. Furthermore, just look at Joe Biden, he's been on the attack relentlessly since the start. That puts the self dubbed "Comeback Team" or the "R&R" at a disadvantage because they do not have that attack dog that the Democrats have.
This is a bad choice. I'm sure you all know I was hoping for Bob McDonnell to be the pick, but hey, the GOP clearly doesn't know how to choose running mates.
I agree! I was just reading an article. The wall street journal I think it was, it was about Ryan's budget plans. I mean I have to admit Romney had an actual chance. I think he just blew it. Big time. Those budget plans Ryan has will not fly w8th the general population which happen to not be seniors.
ReplyDeleteBad choice Mitt!
Well if I may just point out something that may prove your last sentence wrong a little bit, in the 2010 House elections, nationwide, the GOP won the senior vote by 58%. Now take into consideration that the main attack the Democrats used to try to keep their majority in the House was that if the GOP is put into the majority, they will pass the Ryan budget and throw grandma off a cliff. (obviously not their exact words but you get the point.) However despite that, the GOP still got almost 60% of the senior vote. Food for thought on that I guess.
ReplyDeleteNow don't get me wrong, I like Paul Ryan and I'm a fan of the Ryan Budget. But Paul Ryan was a bad choice because he changes the dynamic of the election in a bad way for Mittens.
